The war with Mexico increased tension between the north and the south. Events such as the compromise of 1850, Northern Resistance, and various other events made the north and south fight with one another more regularly. Both sides fought hard for what they believed in, leading to numerous wars. One of the most important events was at Fort Sumter. After Lincoln sent his supply ship and confederates destroyed it, the Civil War had started.
